…. de La Chef de la Maison.
The Dutch call it ‘pepernoten’ (pepper nuts) although no pepper is mentioned in the recipe. Every ‘chef’ has his/her own recipe; the ingredients are the same but the proportions differ.
The basic recipe is is a mix of flour, butter, nutmeg and grained cloves. The half round shapes (some makes them round) in the picture are topped with almond snippers but ‘La Chef’ had a shortage of two thanks to her assistant
